A very interesting article from the BBC yesterday: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www-2Dbbc-2Dcom.cdn.ampproject.org_c_s_www.bbc.com_news_education-2D57178473.amp&d=DwIFAg&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=y-bmULcjy1hHGGGNFb7kUOhJzG-P_xQGtfZRPOWeNBTMm-DyUfgutEnC4Mm0jKfj&m=5CwLhhI6q7KyMZVJZu143kK2zi9ow4ia4VHoJB_iEx4&s=gFkq7Eq3egfgAieu55z4b-c-BwjsU3953Y5ZSfgDIYA&e=
Bias based on subjective personality judgements is also apparent in workplace assessment, although being highly agreeable and emotionally responsive may not help a candidate in the same way as it does a student! (for example: https://ink.library.smu.edu.sg/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=6590&context=lkcsb_research).
Obviously assessing relevant personality traits via a scientifically strong and fit for purpose method is likely to be very helpful to your assessment process, but what about more subjective judgements of someone’s personality? Especially when those traits are not important to performance in the role but bias decision making? And even more so, what might be the impact of negative assessor views of emotionality if someone is suffering from assessment anxiety, or even anxiety more generally, especially given the pandemic?
What personality biases have you noticed in assessment? What steps do you take to guard against these? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hi everyone and welcome to the course, please introduce yourself here.
My name is Michol Munns and I work for a global leadership development consultancy based in the US. I recently relocated from London to Massachusetts, having spent an equal number of years in each. I created an assessment tool with my co-founder based on a framework he developed for leader onboarding and integration and I am keen to gain and expand my knowledge around the use of assessments in the context of our consulting scopes, but also as a marketing and nurturing vehicle.
Hi Michol - welcome to the Sova community and thank you for sharing an overview of your background and area of interest. We hope you find the course helpful and please do let us know if you have any questions or comments as you get started.
